I suggest giving our cops a friggin' break once in a while. That's a big operation and those guys have a lot to do. And they're people. I wonder what you did that disgusted him so?

The same thing happened to me last year on Morgan Street for a closure on Hillsborough St for the Xmas parade. I made sure to go to the grocery store before the sign the RPD gave us days before stating what time the closure would occur. I got back about 45 minutes before that time and the RPD officer would not allow me on my side street even though I could show him my dedicated parking spot. I ended up having to park over 1/2 mile away and lug back groceries. I called to report and never heard anything back about the early closure and rude officer. Good Luck on your concern.

@ncjks. If you read what was reported, they drove up the street under direction of another officer, and the RPD officer had the street blocked with his car.

Yeah, I read it. Doesn't change the fact that the cop had a tough job to do and, like everybody, might hurt our feelings unintentionally. I'm sure his objective was not simply to upset you.

I've encountered officers allowing one direction of traffic to continue for over 10 minutes while i sat there waiting. When i honked to get his attention because i was going to be late to pick up my child because of him, he threw up his arms and used very inappropriate language and behavior. Give them a break?? Please! Do their jobs!

The problem is that there are so many road closures for races and other events especially downtown.

This will be referred to Raleigh Police for review.
