Q. Please describe the issue
A. It is my understanding from a call to the police that a permit was issued by the city for the event. The permit allowed for the outdoor event to run for a period of four and a half hours with no regard to noise ordinances. The noise ordinance states that between the hours of 7:00am and 9:00pm weekdays loud noise over 70 decibels over four hours is not permitted.

Right on the application for the special event permit, it states - show cannot be conducted in a manner so as to: (1) prevent a public nuisance; and/or (2) (a) protect employees, patrons, and members of the public inside or outside the premises from the disruptive conduct, from criminal activity, or from health, safety or fire hazards; (b) prevent an unreasonable increase in the level of noise in the area caused by the licensed activity or caused by patrons entering or leaving the premises; or (c) prevent an unreasonable increase in the level of pedestrian or vehicular traffic in the area of the premises or an unreasonable increase in the number of vehicles to be parked in the area of the premises.
If the noise is unreasonable, please call the police department for future violations like this and we could take action.
