Why don't you talk to the tenants? We are renters and have some REALLY obnoxious home owners next to us! What do we do. Just because we rent does that mean we are lessor of people?? Who are we to complain about the home owners in the neighborhood?? Should I contact my landlord about the homeowners?

I agree! I have rented in the University for 6 years and find that many of the homeowners are quite rude! Homeowners seem to feel they have more rights then the renters! Especially that SEUNA group which say they want diversity except for economically challenged people, college students and African Americans.

Why is it that the landlord is the issue if the tenant is bad? I agree with John! Who patrols the homeowners, have you looked around the neighborhood, the nicest homes are the rentals!!!

John C and Erin's comments are completely off base. I've been renting in the University neighborhood for ten years and yes, not all renters are bad, nor are all home owners. Why are home owners better than renters? That's not really an issue, it's an issue of quality of life. I don't think there's an issue with SEUNA regarding equity either racially or economically in the neighborhood--it boils down to respect and conscientiousness. Most renters tend to stay 4 years maximum on average because they are university students and typically undergraduate. They typically also don't have a vested interest in the neighborhood, if they did they would know from research--without notice from their landlord--that the tenant is responsible for shoveling in the winter, unless otherwise stated by the landlord. I never see renting university students shoveling their sidewalks in the winter, that's just one case in point. Most of the homes that are being rented out are corporate owned and even those corporations are at fault for lack of maintenance and upkeep of their own properties. The nicest homes are definitely not the rentals, they are corporate owned money makers plain and simple. In my ten years in my rental, I have seen my block become inundated with undergraduate students with no concern for their neighbor, they are only concerned about having parties when they can. There is no direct involvement with their community or neighborhood.
