Thank you for the prompt reply. Hot water is on (occasionally gets tepid). My apartment, however, a small studio, has one main radiator that hasn't puffed up ANY HEAT since the new winter season (October 2009). The one bathroom pipe his only on infrequently, I mean stone cold mostly.
I reported this issue to 911. An inspector has been around several times trying different things (don't ask me -- not my field), but nothing worked. He said the plumber need to come. If he showed up, that didn't work either. That's when I called 311.
Luckily I like the cold. But NOT FREEZING! -- Some apartments in this building (very old bldg) have heat, some don't. Larger apartments some rooms get heat, others don't. Very irregular. How does that get remedied?
So, I am unclear if management has which kind of intractable problem and they need to apply some other discipline. I wish they would keep me informed. Their silence is defining! That portion -- communication -- a significant ingredient.
I called Dira Realty again yesterday for a complaint of no heat or hot water at 899 Montgomery St in Brooklyn. I asked them to check your building as well. If your heat is restored, please close this report.
Thanks for posting.
NO HEAT -- AGAIN! -- so far this winter. THE ISSUE DEFINITELY REMAINS OPEN!!
Luckily the weather has been mild; but and when the temperature drops, UNHEALTHY. So much work being created pretending to provide 'free'health care to all. BUT THEY CAN'T DO THE FUNDAMENTALS AND GET THE HEAT ON!!!
Thank you for being there.
Thank you for pursuing a remedy; but today is December 8th, and, STILL NO HEAT! Just to let you know, mine is an intractable problem. I did all the 'dots' around the rink to reverse this issue. But, quite sadly, NO RESULTS! There is something seriously wrong with the brains (oops, change that), with the mechanics in my 'G' line. Every apartment has no heat. The first winter I was there, also no heat. They sent in some workers and did some digging (I am doing the best to describe an area of bldg management of which I have no knowledge of) and the then sufficient heat came up. That was in the middle of November. Second winter - nothing. This, the third winter - again, nothing.
Other than corresponding with you, nothing happens.
I had the building inspector look at it this week. He said he would get it fixed. Same words last winter; nothing (see above!)
Somewhere in this maze of silliness is a remedy.
Let you know then.
I just called Dira Realty again and spoke to Deanna. She said that she has had several complaints about heat and will call the super. She will also get in touch with the person who controls the heat from the office.
In the meantime, please contact your city council person to put pressure on Dira. It may be the only way you will get heat.
Thanks for posting.
The chilling New York season has begun. Whether or not this intractable 'no heat' problem gets remedied stands waiting. We will keep in touch as it goes.
Thanks so much for your consistency.
We called Dira Realty on your behalf. They said they will have their inspector look at the G line for lack of heat.
If your heat is restored, please close this post.
For continuing problems with lack of heat, please contact your City Council member, Darlene Mealy
