You know I could have sworn I also saw one about a month ago in the area while walking our dogs. Nobody believed me though. Maybe I wasn't mistaken after all.
It might not be a coyote,It could be a coydog ,which can be extremely aggressive.Living in the south farms area of Middletown I see quite a few coydogs and fox, ejoy them from a good distance
Coyote has been seen in the evening on Basswood Drive, actually will sit at end of driveway. Last winter I called animal control about the coyote and was told DEP said as long as animal is not attacking or appear to have rabbies (such as no fear of people) to leave alone.
@ Gegle..this is so true and then it's the animals that are penalized for attacking what they normally wouldn't if their homes had not been destroyed, it's sad actually.
Just stay away from it and don't leave pets outside. Unless it's rabid or attacks, it has every right to be there. Where are wild animals supposed to go?
I couldn't agree more, people worry more about a coyote than a buck in rut, they would be more likely to approach that buck not realizing that buck is extremely aggressive. My point is all wildlife could be dangerous, from a black bear to a squirrel.
You know Stella ,im not sure what they want fixed.... I know i would like the drug dealers and prostitutes out of the North end of Middletown and i would certainly welcome more wildlife in trade
@Disco, that cat comment was mean, I agree cats belong inside but there are many homeless cats due to ignorant people, is it the cats faults if they get eaten?
@Birdsy. My comment was directed at cat owners that leave their cats outside. I agree with you on the plight of homeless cats. We have some in our neighborhood. People get the cats for their kids, they get bored of them, so they just leave them to fend for themselves outside.
My reason for this posting regarding a coyote or large fox was to alert parents of the dangers pretaining to children and pets. Another reason would be a warning that it may have been rabid. Stella, this was not intended as a quick "fix".

Big deal...I had 3 coyotes right outside my living room window last winter.
If you have outdoor cats, you deserve to have them eaten. Cats should ONLY be indoors.
