It's really striking to me how different the level of police service is down here compared to my moms house in the highlands. I called the police business line two hours ago about a box truck blocking the alley next to 1 Center St. Plate #676 YY7. It's been there all day and I have no idea who owns it. I was planning on using the alley today to pick up something but had to carry it around to the front. I don't think the police have come down to even look at the truck let alone ticket or tow it out the alley. Last year my mom called about a van parked in front of her house all day. 2 police cars came right over. They spent a half hour trying to find the owner, checking it with their flashlights as if there was a dead body inside. They also wanted to talk my mom. Saying something to the effect "we just wanted to make sure you are OK". She thought all the fuss was funny and remarked how unfortunate it must be to live in the other Holyoke. Is there some way we can fix this so the level of service is the same no matter where you live in Holyoke? Thanks.

Police calls for service are handled based on priority. The more serious calls such as shots fired, armed robbery, assault in progress are taken over the non-violent calls. Sometimes calls for service are stacked until someone is available. We are do our best to provide service to all citizens regardless of where they live.
I understand that that vehicle in question is no longer blocking the alley.
If you wish to file a complainant in regards to how your call was handled this is not the proper venue for that. We have a formal complaint process. You are more than welcome to come in and file an official complaint and speak with the Shift Commanding Officer.
