This has been obstructing pedestrian traffic for at least five years. Perhaps concerned citizens of Holyoke could contact Mass DOT directly about this, if we are provided some contact information, if phone calls from the DPw Admins are not moving the work forward. (Is there work to be done? Is the sidewalk hazardous? I walked inside the barricades yesterday and I AM STILL ALIVE).

I dig the postapocalyptic feel but unless the Mass DOT's job is to lower property values and obstruct transportation it's not doing it...

I called MaDOT and was told that the bridge is not scheduled to be worked on until 2/2020. The contractor said that the railing is deteriorated and the barricades are to keep a car from jumping the curb and going through the railing. Anybody have any thoughts on what we could do?

Would it be possible to arrange the barricades so that they continue to block cars, but allow pedestrians to walk? If the two at each end are placed parallel to (and along) the road instead of prependicular, that should work.
