i always tell them to put it back after i take pictures. I remind them it is a $1000 dollars a day fine, for each day it's out there. stay alert and get back in your car before you say anything. Illegal dumping & graffiti has become such a huge problem for Oakland. What's so obvious, however, is that the City has no leadership on the issue. It seems to get worse by the day. Thanks for standing up for West Oakland.

Maybe you have something to say about caught people dumping hazardous waste (mercury) in our neighborhoods? On our streets? This is where I live, literally and I spend a lot of time cleaning up after this stuff. Catching someone in the act had me pretty riled up. Apologies if my post stereotypes anyone who is out there f*ing up Oakland.

hopefully the city will keep cleaning this stuff up as well as figure out new methods to deter these criminals. I am not optimistic since they may just be trying because it is election season. We need to keep the pressure on the city and keep vigilant.

Kudos for getting a license plate AND photo ID. I personally would love to see "WANTED" posters all over town with these criminals' faces. I sincerely hope OPD actually does some enforcement for once, with such strong evidence.

The City of Oakland has a budget set aside for comminicating issues related to Illegal Dumping and related Blight. The City of Oakland can pay for billboards that address this city-wide epidemic, post information for reporting these cases (for those folks who don't yet know how to do it) and feature pictures of offenders.

It does take catching people in the act & saying something to let the illegal dumpers know that it will no longer be tolerated. Bad things flourish when good people take no action.

City has followed up to find and site the dumpers based on the pictures with license plate. It's great to see the follow through on this. I don't like to see people charged with this as a crime, but how else will they stop?

someone needs to get KTVU and Oakland Tribune to do a story on this. Illegal dumping is a huge problem in west oakland. Imagine if this happened in Piedmont. Why shouldn't we have a voice too! Anyone on here know anyone at any local news organization? Oakland has a bad reputation; we need to let the country know that we do not tolerate this kind of behavior.
