Description
There is a private elementary and middle school at this location. Christ Greenfield Lutheran School. At drop-off in the morning (8:00 - 8:20), it does not feel safe. There are no "School zone" signs, so everyone is driving at 45 mph. If I try to come from the north and turn left, the line from the parking lot extends out into the street in the oncoming (northbound) lane. So I can't turn left until it drains enough AND only if the nearest oncoming lane is also clear.
On top of this, there is construction on a crosswalk light, but when it's completed, I don't think it will help much.
I see that after the first couple days, they now have some people directing traffic, but what they need to do is to be able to stop the northbound lane and allow people to turn left from the southbound turn lane. But it's not safe for them to do this at 45mph, so they don't. If there were "School zone, 25 mph, fines double" (or 15mph, or 35mph?) signs, then it would feel much safer. I've seen pop-up, wheeled signs like that set in the road at several locations by other schools. It seems like it would be good to put them here too.
For now I will just drive a couple miles further around to come from the south instead of the north. Then I can turn right instead of left into the parking lot.
