Description
Someone posted this back in April and the issue says it was acknowledged but is without resolution. The eastbound lane on Montgomery Street at the Bergen Avenue intersection is problematic and I witnessed 2 near-collisions tonight. The left lane has an up or left faded arrow. (Most people seem to presume it is a left only but the city changed that to either/or during the road redesign and drivers in the right lane plow forward). The right lane has an up arrow only and drivers cannot go straight as they have to merge left to avoid bike lane. Since bike lanes were installed, there is a near impossible merge here and confusion due to poor striping and signage. Maybe the turn arrow light needs to be timed. Maybe the left lane needs to be turn only. Maybe the underutilized bike lanes need to be removed. Something has to be addressed here because it's a catastrophe. This road layout is dangerous and accidents are waiting to happen here. School is about to open, bringing more traffic, families and kids into the area. Please address this poorly planned intersection, road striping and signage to prevent crashes or pedestrian fatalities. Most of the sidewalks in the area are also impassible for walking pedestrians due to multiple constructions projects saturating McGinley Square.
