Between Portage and Notre Dame Arlington is one and a half lanes wide (previously 1 + parking lane). There is no signage or markings on the road other than the yellow dashed line down the centre separating opposing traffic. In rush hour people drive two abreast and barely have a half a foot of space in between vehicles, sometimes less.
The fact that you absolutely cannot pass a bus without crossing the yellow divider line indicates it is defintely not a two lane road.
I have seen several near accidents and have almost been pushed off the road and into incoming traffic in this stretch. Once past Notre Dame the road widens into two properly marked lanes.
This stretch either needs a no passing sign or needs to be widened to allow two lanes on either side safely.
