There are much more important repairs than this. If you cannot navigate on 11th St., then maybe you shouldn't be driving any longer.

The unpainted 11th St (Rt. 251) portions are state maintained. The 1% sales tax revenue does not go to maintaining the Rt. 251 portions of the road. Also, some paint is much cheaper than the two million dollars it takes to replace one mile of road just as patching is cheaper than replacement.

Get your facts straight, Kelly, because you are clearly wrong.

Who said anything about 251 South of Sandy hollow? or about replacing roads? It used to be that they would resurface over deteriorating sections of roads, now they let them fall into such enormous deterioration with little shovel fulls of blacktop everywhere then whine and cry that there isn't enough money to replace the road

Um....Rt 251 goes through Rockford (11th Street north to Harrison and then continuing north on Kishwaukee.. That's what he was talking about. The further inaccuracy is that the 1% sales tax bump pays for maintaining 11th St. It does not. However, where 11th Street becomes a city road (Harrison to Charles St.) is a city street and is maintained by city $$$. The part of the road at issue is the Rt. 251 portion south of Harrison. Yeah....there's pretty much no striping left and we all know how this state is just overflowing with cash right now. If the state ever does fix that road, it would be nce if they could fix the left-hand turn lane from 11th St. to Sandy Hollow. Anyone not familiar with that little bump in the road is going to launch their car if they're going too fast.
