Description
The block of Livingston Street between Lawrence and Edwards is to be swept this morning but there is just ONE small sign at the end of the block announcing this fact. The six or seven cars currently parked there will probably be towed. If you are towed and need photographic proof of the inadequacy of the posting, respond here and I will contact you.

A couple notes about street sweeping:
- metal signs were removed in East Rock when street sweeping was reduced from twice a month to once a month based on the requests of the aldermen and the amount of sweepings we were collecting
- we found that paper-posting was far more effective at getting people to move their cars than the metal signs, so did not invest in making new (expensive) metal signs for the new schedule
- paper-posting and the other changes we have made have reduced the number of cars towed for sweeping from over 20,000 in 2006 to 4,237 in 2012, and we are still working on ways to improve noticing such as the use of our "reverse-911" system that started this year
- the City does not make money on street sweeping, but sweeps for cleanliness, environmental and safety reasons
Ticket writers are instructed to not write a ticket if a sign is not easily visible from that location.
