Try driving with the flow of traffic in that lane during the morning or evening rush hour --- it's funny. People will give you the finger, honk at you and then pass you on the shoulder. I do it for amusement.

People need to know the rules of the road; the left lane is the passing lane and once you pass a car move over to the right and let others pass you. Too many times there are people driving slow in the left hand lane and holding up those behind them. Either move over or stay off the road!

PA does not have a "Passing Lane" You can pass in any lane. If the slower traffic doesn't use the extra lane, others can. There is no designation as to who belongs in that lane.

You cannot pass another driver on their right, so these people are doing something illegal. In addition, it just makes things worse for the rest of the drivers because as they're merging in they are cutting off people in the middle lane, causing lots of braking and resulting in a wave of braking behind them- which can cause a traffic jam at that point. If the lane was just extended a half mile or so until the Springfield exit this extra lane would actually be helpful instead of a pain!

Pa. Vehicle code:Chapter 33 Section 3304 allows vehicles to pass on the right
"upon a roadway with unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for two or more lines of vehicles moving lawfully in the direction being traveled by the overtaken vehicle, except that such movement shall not be made by driving off the roadway" Thus it is legal to pass on the right on 476.

I think it would be very helpful if the slow drivers moved to the right, instead of staying in the left lanes (you know who you are!). And as for that truck lane, how often do you see a truck move over to that lane? Almost never. They stay in the left or middle lane, and the right lane is wide open. So I use it to pass....if the slow people aren't following the rules, why should the fast drivers obey them?

You must be the one truck in Delco that uses that lane...and good for you if you are driving 45 mph and using it...MOST of the trucks are not using it and are clogging the other lanes at 45 mph....

I agree with others here too. I do use that right lane to pass because of the folks who use the far left lane to go 45 miles or slower. And I have NEVER seen a truck is that right lane.

The whole Blue Rt design was obselete when it was built. The reason people are going slow in the left and right lanes is the amount of volume for the road and not because of trucks and cell phone use.... and when people use the truck to pass and the lane only ends it adds to the congestion and shows thier stupidity when they have to merge and I've seen poeople get @#$% off!!!! you will never see a truck there cause they and all other traffic is slow already it was meant foir non congestion so trucks can move out of the way of lighter vehicles but since its all effed up and the whole thing is slow people think they have the right to fly down and but in front of people that have been waiting..... be carefull people have been shot for butting in line......

Wow..that sounds like a threat Blarney....I agree the Blue Route is obsolete, but so are many other roads...just life I guess.
It would be a perfect world if people moved to the right to allow faster vehicles to pass on the left...but sadly, there are too many people who believe they are the traffic police...the pace setter for the road...instead of moving over, they stubbornly hold the left lane.....forcing the other drivers to pass on the right...

I agree this is a problem, but for many reasons, Philadelphia drivers have become far too aggressive. In Driver's Ed, we were always taught to never pass in the right-hand lane, but such tactics are the norm out here. Speed limits?!? Forget about it - drivers tail you if you're not driving at least 5-10 mph over the speed limit. In order to stop this Philadelphia aggression, we either need everyone to retake (and pass) their driver's tests, extra police enforcement, or both. Kudos to you, however, for verbalizing what we're all thinking when an aggressive driver pulls this dangerous maneuver.

Anyway, the problem is everybody is in a mad rush anymore, the tailgating
is out of control, you cant even do 35 in a 25 anymore without some dope
right on your backside. Everybody speeds up to and blows stop signs,
half the time it looks like they wont even stop.

These women/soccer moms in the SUVS are out of control, they are the
absolute worst drivers.
THe angry truck driving contractors are second. Speeding like coked
up drug attics that are driving to their next score.
I say in another 10 years it will be like mad max on the roads.
Road Rage killings will increase dramatically.
