Is there a long-term plan in place to by D.O.T. or Public Works to keep Whalley Avenue clean of garbage now that they just spent millions beautifying it? After only a short time all of the new green spaces are littered.

No one cares about what happens when ugly, high-speed streets are created.
The DOT creates over-engineered, inhumane, ugly, hostile thoroughfares that people don't care about - that's what the DOT does.
Neglected streets actively demonstrate the total lack of involvement that the average car driver has in the communities through which they drive.
Have you ever seen anyone stop their car to water a tree, plant some flowers or pick up trash along the roadside?

I can't make any promises but my contact at Public Works tells me:
"we 'll find out if our guys have ever done it before(maybe they have?) and will go from there. If they are out in the neighborhood perhaps they can do a quick run around today or Monday..."
Chris,
Please keep on eye on this for us!
BTW: Westville looks great!
