I have lived in Kingston for over 15 years and one of things I can count on is that there is drug dealers and prostitutes on Broadway, day and night. After so many years I'm concerned on why this mess has not been cleaned up. More police presence and arrests are needed in all areas of Kingston where this type of crimes are an everyday event.

I believe the police dept. will tell you they lack resources. I'm not sure on this, but if that is 100% true then the city, if your comment gains enough support would seek to raise taxes to pay for the added man power.
In my opinion.
I also do believe the dept. is overwhelmed but don't want to admit it because criminal activity may increase. This, overall, stinks because it seems that city crime always happens in the same few areas that everyone is aware of. I called them before for assistance and they did not respond, then called 911 who questioned the severity of my call and put me on hold!!!!!
Police, off the cuff, have remarked that even when they make arrests, the law only allows for minimal punishment depending on the crime; they're right back on the street in no time.
So, until we focus on the actual disease instead of the offshoot of symptoms, this will keep going.

If you have a very good view of it for 15 years, might i suggest using the forms the Kingston Neighborhood Watch has and report it. Us the drug trafficking and complaint form. They are free and can be sent in without reveling who is reporting.
They can be found here...

And if you report something and nothing gets done to your satisfaction... then report it again, and again, and again until you get the outcome you are looking for. We, as residents need to step up and start to help out our police force. Simply posting issues here isn't gonna be good enough anymore. Not that this is a bad thing, post it, let people know, but go that extra step and help by doing your own community policing.

Secondly, to call and call again?! Yeah, I'll explain to my boss why I'm late: "Sorry, had to keep calling 911 for proper response."
I'm continuing to look for another place to live. this city continues to demonstrate why people and businesses have fled in droves over the years.
