Why in the world would the City of Berkeley run a half marathon on its dense, crowded streets? Apparently because it's dense. Berkeley is already a congested city of one way street, street bumps, turn arounds, and k-wall barricades, and the City goes and turns the congestion in to an utter nightmare on a Sunday afternoon. Next time rent out the horse race place and let the runners run in circles there. If people need something to do in their spare time and have enough energy to spare to run a half marathon why don't they pick up trash, or sweep leaves for an elderly person or read to a child. Utter nonsense to tie up city streets for a bunch of people to run around in a circle.
