Description
The path down Lakeview Road between Lake Ave and Keene Rd is similar to a racetrack. This stretch has no stop signs or speed humps to help keep traffic at the 30 mph posted speed. It is obviously an ongoing safety concern, as there are speed flashers that tell drivers when to slow down. These flashers do no good and people speed right past them. There are never any speed traps and I had to call to request an officer monitor the area on Halloween for the safety of children. In addition to excessive speed, passing is also allowed. This causes speeders to go around drivers that are following the speed limit, an even larger safety issue. It's scary just to get in/out of my driveway. Has a four-way stop ever been considered in any of the intersections? Something has to be done before a person or animal gets hurt.

This section of Lakeview Rd is functionally classified as a major collector road. Major collector roads are not eligible for traffic calming per our Residential Traffic Management program. Traditional traffic calming measures such as stop signs or speed humps are not an option on this road, that's why the speed feedback signs were installed in 2019.
You'll need to continue to work with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and/or Clearwater Police Department for assistance with the speeding on this road. This request will be reassigned to the SO to request they perform some Directed Patrols on this road segment.

So we just wash our hands of a safety issue. Why is passing allowed in this path? I can understand emergency vehicles but the Honda Civic flying down the road at 60 mph. I never would’ve purchased a home here if I knew the safety of my children would not be a concern to Pinellas County. Your feedback signs are a joke and people ignore them. Will you ignore this when a human is killed?
Obviously the sheriff’s office didn’t care either since I haven’t seen them anywhere and Clearwater has made it clear they don’t care because it’s a county road.
