All I can think is "payola" for that DD getting past the zoning. It added to the traffic outrageously and greated a very dangerous situation as people try to get around the back up traffic.

I think there is no really good fix for this situation, short of moving the Dunkin' somewhere else. One way to somewhat fix it might be to combine the two driveways there, but that would only help a little. On a side note, the bus stop is going to be moved to the corner, near the convenience store, when the road is redone in a year or two. Hmmm... a good solution to this might be to put another Dunkin' in, on the north side of Whalley. That way, if you're going west/north, you don't have to make two lefts on Whalley. That would improve the logjam significantly. :)

fix ...right only into lot ....left only out of lot...NNNOOO Crossing lanes...a curb or NJ barrier could be added..ticket otherwise!
All drive up's on major arteries have these challenges!

I would like to see this fixed too!
1. The zoning for this stretch of Whalley should be reexamined.
2. Police should know about the frustration this causes and monitor the situation. Sadly, police acting as traffic directors is where we're at in order to fix New Haven streets.

I have a perfect solution for this! I know some may hate it but its the best solution I can think of....open ANOTHER DD in the near-empty plaza on the opposite side of the road. This way there is no cross over traffic holding anyone up.
