The residents of Pine St have been complaining for years; and they still do 40mph. They did install speed bumps at one end of the street that helped quite a bit (needed at both ends though). However, they broke weeks later, waiting for replacements to be installed.

What would really work on your street and ours is the police actually writing $100+ citations for speeding. Word would travel quickly after the first hundred or so tickets.

They need to do something. Just outside for 10 min and saw 4 cars hit 40mph. Time for the residents to deal with it themselves maybe because the town clearly does not care.

The Police Department was notified of this issue.

I think this is more of a town issue rather than police. Speed bumps would solve this issue instantly. The police can’t sit here all day

The speed bumps do help, but in the few weeks they were on Pine St, I watched trucks fly over them at speed.

The PD could put officers on OT, or on Detail to deter seeding (again by writing hefty citations) and pay for those officers from the tickets (even at the state reimbursement rate). With social media/instant massaging, the town could earn a reputation in 6 months (like Groveland has): Speed through town and you will pay, guaranteed.

I did see cruisers parked on Stetson a number of times in the last few months, often right in front of my house. Unfortunately other drivers see them too and behave themselves. As soon as the cruiser is gone, they are back to speeding. Since the radar sign was installed, which I can read from the comfort of my living room, I have a much better sense of how many people are going too fast. It may not be ticket worthy but it is still too fast for a neighborhood road. I have actually had people pass me on the left while I have my turn signal on as I am turning left into my driveway! What is wrong with people???

There is a traffic committee meeting on Thursday, Jan 5. Please show up and please request the obvious solutions: 2 stop signs, cross walks, speed bumps or speed tables, resident only signs during rush hour (to stop cut through)

About my last comment of how someone passed me on the left while turning left into my driveway, well it happened again today, this time to my wife. Turn signal on and everything and the other driver has the nerve to beep their horn as if my wife was somehow in the wrong. There’s not much we can do to address bad drivers but there sure seems to be a high concentration of them these days!

They drive like that because they are not your neighbors and they couldn't care less about this town. Swampscott is a cut throughout; likely 90% of the drivers on town roads come from Marblehead, Salem, Lynn, etc. They will continue to endanger townspeople until we do something about it.

I will send this to the Traffic Study Commission and notify the Police Department again.
