Description

The Bus Shelter at corner of Church and Elm St. is literally coming apart and needs to be fixed. All the screws are missing off of one metal panel and the panel blows in the wind. On the opposite side: plexiglass window panel is missing completely. The latter has been missing since before Covid 2020. The other panel looks like someone is dismantling it, bolt by bolt. Bus riders need safe shelter in the inclement weather. I hear two stories about this situation and they should be two separate issues: 1. The homeless use the bus shelters and some city officials are glad that someone or something is taking them apart so they will be unusable by the homeless (and everyone else). The tax paying transit riders should have adequate shelter while waiting for a bus 2. Transit riders pay taxes, and need shelter from inclement weather at high volume bus stops. The tax paying transit riders shouldn't be paired together with the homeless problem, nor suffer the consequences of the city's homeless/transient problem. Two separate issues. Please fix that shelter and help the homeless so they don't need to use bus shelters. The broken bus shelter has been like that for years and it is now time to fix it. If any surveillance cameras find people dismantling the shelters, their punishment should be to literally help fix and repair those shelters. That's my opinion. Thank you.
