Description
I just counted 26 honks of a train horn as it came through the City of Cohoes tonigh! The residents are sick and tired of the constant NOISE POLLUTION!!! The train only needs to blow the horn 4 or 5 times as it comes through the city, not 26 TIMES!!!!
STOP ALL THE NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, let me explain, at each crossing, the train is required, by law, to blow 2 long, one short, then 1 long again. So, for 7 crossings, there should be 28 horns, not including the ones once the train hits the bridge.
There was a plan to close some of the crossings and make Cohoes a "Quiet Zone" , meaning the train would only ring the bell at crossings.
This is how it used to be.
But, with the accident that killed the woman two years ago, that plan was scrapped.
The trains are doing what they are legally requitred to do.
Normally, there are 2 locals a week from Albany to the paper mill, and a local every night to G.E. from Albany.
The locals for G.E. go up around 10pm and come back around 2am.
I tried to get people to help set up ATCS monitoring to see when the trains were going through to try and work up a plan with CP Rail to limit the noise, but no one was interested.
