Descrição
World War 1 Howitzer Monument located in Kennedy Park is in deplorable condition. Rusting and sinking into the ground. The last world war 1 veteran died this year. What a disgrace to have left this memorial forgotten and unkempt. Fall River is good at erecting memorials but poor at maintaing them. Each year I visit Fall River and leave saddened when I visit this memorial. Fall River, DO SOMETHING.

I recently walked my dog in Kennedy Park and I, too, was shaking my head in disgust over this travesty.
Perhaps the Veteran's Association can help.
I will tell my family to vote with us to correct this injustice.
Thanks, Ron, for caring.

Thank you for your concern over this. Maybe if enough citizens hound the mayor's office, something will be done. It is very sad.
Sincerely,
Ron

Thanks Pam for your interest in the monument. Maybe you can have an impact by having your freinds along with you blast the mayor's office. If enough people get on his case, something just might get done.
Sincerely
Ron

Some helpful facts...First, the Park Department has every green in the city as well as all the public parks in the city to maintain...with severn persons to do it. Second if a memorial is erected in a park within the the city, it has to pass the Park Board, and during this process, it is common for the erecting gorganization to agree to maintain the monument. SUMMARY: Lets make sure its not the Park Dept's responsability to maintain it before we start dumping on them....and rather than just point out a flaw and move on...do some research and find out WHO is responsebile for maintaining the monument, then lets work with them to restore it to its former glory.
Im a vet and I am intrested in getting this taking care of.... You see how I addressed the problem and did some research, made myself informative and now I am taking steps to fix the issue? I didn't have to point fingers at anyone either.

Hi Russell.
Thank you for your input. If you are truly becoming involved in this issue, I commend you. My concerns were not to point fingers at the park department or any other particular department. Only to bring to the attention of all Fall Riverites the situation as it is. Maybe from the Mayor's office on down, being made aware of it will bring out people who will as you say, research it and get things done. I am sure most on unaware of it's deplorable condition. So if you have truly reseached it, let your fellow citizens know what your research has uncovered and maybe all together, Fall River can address the problem.
Sincerely,
Ron Wilson
