How can we request to create a "Quiet Zone" ("No Train Horn") zone at this intersection? Based on what the DOT website has at https://railroads.dot.gov/elibrary/how-create-quiet-zone, the railroad crossings here have SSMs in place which would make these two crossing eligible to be Quiet Zones. Right now, train horns blast daily, sometimes in the early morning hours which is a nuisance, so much that it has to be declared on property disclosures which has impact on property values. It's not fun being awakened at 5:00am by blasting horns. Since the crossings already meet criteria for Quiet Zones, it would be great to have those implemented. Thank you!

Any update on this? Going on over a year and the trains are still blaring horns as they roll through our residential neighborhood at 2am, 4am, anytime.
Our neighborhood understands these things take time. But some indication of progress would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out and inquiring on this ticket. The Town is continuing to move forward on this project. The project manager went to town council on 6/20/23 and was approved to add additional items to the scope of the project to ensure all critical information is gathered for the Quiet Zone assessment before presenting to the council. This was not a presentation on findings, but a request to add additional items to the scope for the consultant to include in the study. The project manager and consultant are gathering information needed to complete the study.
While I realize that this doesn't resolve the issue, This is a complex concern that requires input and approval from several different stakeholders and levels of organizations. We appreciate your patience with the CIP project process.
