Hello, thank you for submitting a ticket in Gilbert 311. The town has an active CIP project and has entered into an agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad to do an evaluation of each of the railroad crossings within the Town of Gilbert. This evaluation is intended to identify the safety improvements and develop an estimated cost of those improvements. The project is also analyzing the requirements to establish a quiet zone. Once the evaluation is completed the Town Council will review the information and have a discussion regarding future activity related to establishing a quiet zone within the town limits. A final schedule for this project has not yet been finalized at this time.

Any update on this? Going on over a year and the trains are still blaring horns as they roll through our residential neighborhood at 2am, 4am, anytime.

Our neighborhood understands these things take time. But some indication of progress would be much appreciated.

Thank you for reaching out and inquiring on this ticket. The Town is continuing to move forward on this project. The project manager went to town council on 6/20/23 and was approved to add additional items to the scope of the project to ensure all critical information is gathered for the Quiet Zone assessment before presenting to the council. This was not a presentation on findings, but a request to add additional items to the scope for the consultant to include in the study. The project manager and consultant are gathering information needed to complete the study.

While I realize that this doesn't resolve the issue, This is a complex concern that requires input and approval from several different stakeholders and levels of organizations. We appreciate your patience with the CIP project process.
