Description
ALL 11 decorative globe streetlights in front of the PATH plaza on the east side of JFK Boulevard are not lit. This is some kind of electrical feed problem and has happened before.
The photo shows the southernmost streetlight near Jollibee.

These are Jersey City streetlights, NOT PATH/Port Authority. They are maintained by PSE&G for Jersey City.
The Kushner contractor removed a number of these decorative globe streetlights inside the construction site.
It is likely they destroyed the feed to the remaining 11 streetlights.
If so, the Kushner contractor and PSE&G need to install a new electrical feed.

Waseem,
I can confirm that NONE of the lights are working at night.

Waseem,
I can confirm again that NONE of the lights are working at night.

Waseem,
The only noticeable work that was done since this problem was first reported on 19 January is the replacement of this lamppost that had been damaged and removed.
That's good, but all eleven lights are still not lit at night.

Waseem,
So, PSE&G confirmed that the Kushner contractor killed the feed to these 11 streetlights. Trying to re-establish a feed from the south end is hopeless at the moment.
PSE&G should explore providing a feed from the NORTH end at Pavonia & JFK. That doesn't absolve the Kushner contractor from restoring the feed to the south end later.

Waseem,
Please forward this to Engineering and Hudson County Trafffic.
Here is one possibility that requires coordination between PSE&G and Hudson County Traffic. Look at the two poles in this picture:

The pole on the left is the northernmost globe street light that is not lit. The pole on the right supports a mast arm with traffic signals.
Notice the rectangular box recessed in the sidewalk behind the poles. This is a handhole for the traffic signal wiring. There is probably an underground conduit connection between this handhole and the traffic controller across Pavonia on the northwest corner, in front of the Stanley Theater.
There may be a 120-volt feed in this handhole that can be used for the 11 streetlights. HOWEVER, it would have to be properly isolated and fused for the streetlights so that an electrical problem with the streetlights would not cause the traffic signals to fail.
If a feed doesn't exist in this handhole or is inadequate for the streetlights, additional wires could be pulled through the conduit and connected directly to the PSE&G feed at the traffic controller.
The only digging required would be in the sidewalk for a short conduit connecting the handhole box to the globe streetlight pole.

Waseem,
That's a cheap bureaucratic response from the County to avoid solving the issue.
This objection could easily be surmounted by installing a separate meter for the streetlights at the traffic controller box.
Then they should have no reasonable objections to the solution I proposed.

Drew B.,
Eventually the Kushner contractor must be compelled to restore the power feed that they destroyed.
I offered a solution to get the lights back on that could be implemented immediately.
No one has offered an alternative. What do you propose?

Drew B.,
It's been 4 months since I posted this issue. All 11 streetlights are still out.
What was the outcome of the site meeting between PSE&G and the contractor that you mentioned on 31 March?
