Should be assigned to police . It is illegal to block the road . There have been accidents there already .

It’s normal traffic with carpool. Have you not seen Rogers rd with that carpool. It also because too many people have moved here and Wake Forest does not improve the roads and just keep building too much.

For those new to the area Franklin St. used to be wide enough to have been a 4 lane street. After the fire and EMS stations were built, it was decided to make this road more aesthetically appealing. Add median, landscaping and the two $25,000 chicken coops at 98 and E.Waite St. and , ‘ Voila!” A once very functional travel lane turns into a dangerous and menacing nuisance. Have you seen the fire trucks squeak by the carpools while attempting to respond to emergencies? Just be glad those in charge added the bike lanes to the plans. Otherwise there would be even fewer parking spaces in Wake Forest!

Not normal traffic with carpool ! People are forced over the double yellow line in both directions I say both because there is a lane shift at the schools driveway . Cars in one direction extend the turning lane illegally over the double yellow . Cars in the other direction completely block the lane of travel turning the road into one lane . No construction company would be allowed to do this without express permission and with a flaggers controlling traffic . Add to this situation cars exiting the school turning blindly at an uncontrolled intersection . This is a recipe for disaster !
Rogers road is NEVER BLOCKED ! It is controlled by WFPD . Emergency vehicles could pass undisturbed through there .

First, let me apologize for how long it has taken to respond to this comment. Second, I don't think all these comments are referring to the same Franklin Academy. It looks like the original commenter is talking about the Franklin Academy campus located off Chalk Rd. I believe it is the grade 3-8 campus. Chalk Rd. is a state maintained road and complaints concerning traffic on this road should be sent to NCDOT. Their portal is: https://www.ncdot.gov/contact/Pages/form.aspx?UnitName=PIO&sourceUrl=/contact/. I plan to submit the original comment to NCDOT as a concern of a resident from the Town of Wake Forest. I will also put this on our running list of problem areas to be considered for capital improvements projects for the next time that budget is developed. There is no guarantee that the area will be selected for improvement.

ALL Franklin Academies are private businesses. No matter where they happen to be located they should have been required to provide adequate parking for the inevitable carpool vehicles. Why weren’t they?

Franklin Academy purchased the land for the grade 3-8 school in 2000. The Town has revised its regulations in the last 23 years multiple times and as problems arise that our current standards do not address we will continue to revise the regulations to prevent problems from recurring. Chalk Rd is a very different place today than it was 23 years ago. I am not sure what year Franklin Academy was built, but no one in our engineering or planning department was here when Franklin Academy went through the approval process so it is difficult to say why the decision was made to allow the development without adequate onsite storage. I speculate it is either because our standards at the time were different than they are now or because the amount of growth we have experienced is not what the planner or engineer at the time anticipated. Looking back isn’t at all helpful . I suppose chalk road was once a wagon trail . It does not change the fact that a dangerous situation exists . It goes beyond traffic flow or convenience . It is in fact a VIOLATION OF THE LAW to obstruct a lane of traffic ! vehicle traffic and safety laws do not exist merely to inconvenience someone . They exist to protect EVERYONE ! God forbid if a vehicle was broadsided with kids sitting in passenger positions ! Have you seen how devastating a T bone is ?????
