The Continuous Flow Intersection at 4100 South and the Diverging Diamond Interchange at 2100 South are innovative designs to help us alleviate congestion at these busy intersections by retrofitting some of their features and maximizing the existing infrastructure we already have. Future growth projections call for the reconstruction of most, if not all of the intersections along Bangerter Highway into full interchanges (similar to the ones along I-15), but building them all at the same time is not feasible. These innovative designs are helping us manage current and projected traffic flow until the reconstruction time comes. As you may have already noticed along Bangerter Highway, we have already started such process at 7800 South, Redwood Road and in the next couple of years at 9000 South and 600 West.

I and others find these changes very confusing- driving on left side of road instead of right side, etc. Is this causing more driving accidents?? Thank you for your response.

We are still collecting data in order to have a decent comparison of current numbers versus years past. However, these intersections have eliminated the risk for right angle crashes mostly experienced at regular intersections, since they do eliminate those movements at the middle of the intersection, one of their goals. They have been in place for a few years now and they do require some getting used to, just like every newly designed improvement. Public Safety agencies have expressed to us how they are able to better navigate through them when responding to incidents and east-west mobility has also improved since their installation.

I just wanted to give my opinion of my experience driving over there. Like you said, maybe the natives over there have adjusted to driving on the new intersections. I'm glad I live in Sandy and hope our intersections will NOT be changed like those on the west side! Thx again for listening and sharing your experience with those road changes.
