MOUNDS OF DEAD LEAVES, need to be picked up either by Parks Dept. Or City.
These leaves are clogging sewer drains at intersections of Grafton & Clinton, as well as Grafton & Maltby Streets. Causing rain water to collect & not drain properly when it rains.
This is also POOLING at entrance to Pine Alley when heavy rains occur.
Telephone calls were made last year, in 2010, as well as this year to Public Works weeks ago,& still nothing has been done.
The next email with PHOTOS will be to NEWS8wtnh.com since these leaves are also hiding uncovered SYRINGES, by Drug Users that discard them in these leaves, This has become "A PUBLIC SAFTY ISSUE,as well. While Raking Leaves, I came across UNCOVERED SYRINGES, in street that were hidden underneath leaves in street in this area.
I could not imagine stepping out of car, onto these leaves & having that go thru a foot....OUCH!!!
ALOTTA "Children" & Dog walking goes on in Chathan Square Park.....BIG PUBLIC SAFTY HAZARD!!!
Perhaps we should hang those RED SYRINGE DISPOSAL RECEPTICLES, below Dog Doo Bag dispensers....
This Park needs to be MONITORED BETER by N.H.P.D. for Drug Users in center of Park on HOURLY BASIS 24 / 7 NEVER ENDING ISSUE here.

Some residents pick up leaves like myself,& compost, or mulch with mower, which is good for lawns, flowerbeds etc...etc...
While others think that because The City uses Street Sweepers, that will pick it up. But my question is why put them on City Of New Haven Park Grass, & create all this extra work,& Safty Hazards ie: unvisible druggie used syringes, underneath, then walk on & get in your foot & god forbid contract a disease. Hello??? The other issue is clogging sewers, then freezes, since not done correctly in the first place.
When I called Public Works, they said they would address issue. They just tell you what you want to hear.Although its funny all three other sides Clinton, Chatham, & Maltby dont have MOUNDS on those sides.I take care of balance of Grafton St, side, since Tenants, & Visitors have place to park, & it looks like a kept up neighborhood, & I clean Park side as well. Few years back I addressed Police Dept. about used sryringes & officer asks me "What do I want him to do about?" I replied I'm certaintly not picking them up, & there were dozens of them, some with blood, & this is A Public place, filled with children, people walking dogs etc...etc... It's very, very alarming issue.
The moral & purpose of reporting this is, some people do things right, & others DON'T CARE!
It is so apparent, that they were blowen across street from residants, & Really Inconsiderant to the rest of Neighborhood. Thats why I dispose of correctly, or compost into garden, & if you use mower at least once a week its not that bad but most people wait til all of them come down, which then we normally go into winter months & then these leaves will be here another year, til The Year 2013.
