The post office on 25th Street is falling apart. It is a dirty facility and really needs some fixing up and ongoing maintenance. I tried calling the post mistress T. Pettiford but none of my calls were answered.

Uma – Thanks for contacting me with your feedback about the appearance of East End Station.
I have reached out to the Manager of Customer Services Operations (the Postmaster is out of the office until Friday); Lewis Hackett is essentially number two man in charge for Richmond City Post Offices such as East End. I have shared your report with him.
Unfortunately, due to the potential for liability issues and because of the need to honor our national labor relations agreements, we are unable to accept any volunteer assistance in improving the appearance of the Post Office. Only postal employees on duty may perform this work.
However, Mr. Hackett has gotten together with Manager Tanya Pettiford and they have sent requests to our Facilities Office for assistance in painting that office. Local custodians will be dispatched to attend to cleaning the windows, floor, walls and vents. The building is leased, so we only have so much control over repairs. Mr. Hackett has stated that he will contact the lessor as well so that some items which are beyond USPS control may be addressed. Mrs. Pettiford has ordered new blinds for the lobby which should be available soon. The painting cannot proceed, however, until we have milder temperatures: if it’s too cold, the paint does not adhere or dry properly.
I hope that before too long you will see a real difference in the appearance of East End Station.
Thank you for taking the time to write.
