I left my home at 6am to go to work. Sometime between 6am and 8am the City of New Haven posted 'Street-Sweeping' signs and towed my other car. Is the Operations Director getting pay off from the towing companies?

AFTER a tow yard has a car/truck/suv for 30 days they own it. Towed by them for a variety of reasons, pulled over by the police for the usual,Misuse of plates,no insurance,no registration, police finding stolen cars that the insurance company totals due to being stripped by the perpetrators, abandoned autos - and the tow yard gets cars from street sweeping, sometimes students actually let them keep it.

Signs for street sweeping are put up at least one day in advance. Since the City started paper-posting all routes, the number of cars towed annually for sweeping has decreased from over 20,000 in 2006 to 4,237 in 2012. This year, we have also started using our "reverse-911" system to notify people. Our goal is not to tow cars, but to clean the streets.
Street sweeping in November and occasionally into December is done to clean leaves off of the streets. Depending on how the weather cooperates and how many leaves are on particular streets, it can run pretty late.
