Description

Traffic uses FC Greene Blvd as a cut through to/from Park Ave/Warwick Ave. Speed limit is 15 MPH. Most traffic travels 35MPH+ with many over that up to 60MPH. Many heavy trucks where trucks are prohibited. No sidewalks, lots of joggers, walkers, kids, bikes, etc. Very dangerous. Park is a recreation area not a thruway.Park Administration refuses to address. We have appealed to the MAyor's office and the new City Councilor. No action at all. Another year has gone by. Still no help on this.

Stop the speeders cutting through from Elmwood to Broad Street, too! Half of the cars aren't even registered or insured vehicles! I watched a stupid kid in an unregistered car nearly run down 4 elderly people and their grandchildren who were trying to cross to feed the ducks. SPEED LIMIT IS 15 MPH through the park. There is always a Prov Police Person parked behind the Museum DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Nice - eh - our tax dollars at work. (NOT!)

Hey PPD: if you can't stop the gang shootings, the home invasions, the burglaries and the boom car problems in South Providence, AT LEAST GENERATE SOME SPEEDING TICKET REVENUE FROM THESE IDIOTS WHO USE THE PARK AS THEIR OWN PERSONAL SPEEDWAY!

If the PPD were out in the Park last night at around 9pm, they could've raked in lots of fines for the City from speeding cars in Roger Williams Park. No yielding at rotaries, blowing through stop signs, passing cars on the right. The speed limit is 15 mph here! These cars, at least 3 who passed me, were doing more like 45mph. If the PPD ENFORCED the current laws on the books and collected some of these fines, maybe Taveras wouldn't be begging for more revenue.

still no action from the city on this. all but ignored. City Councilperson has done nothing to follow on and there has been no police presence to slow traffic.

No change. Park Administration has a defeatist attitude about addressing speeding traffic. Unwilling to
do anything about ramping up safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, joggers, kids!

Still no action or improvement. The park and administrative officials do not care about this issue;
maybe when someone gets run over they will. So much for quality of life. We sold our home and moved to a more responsive community.

It appears very few know how to properly negotiate a roundabout, or rotary as they are called here in the states. The vehicles in the rotary have the right of way.

As with people stopping on a major road to let vehicles from side streets on the road, the same occurs from the people wanting to 'be nice' while they are in the rotary. It's not a matter of 'being nice' it's a matter of safety and the law. The traffic engineers know what they are doing when they make the laws of the road. They are to be followed for the safety and create benefit and traffic flow for all.

Still nothing done to address speeding and reckless driving. We moved away from the park last year to a safer location. We still are members of the zoo and go quite frequently. We were driving through the park in out old neighborhood last week doing @ 23MPH (speed limit is 15MPH) and were passed by 2 cars doing about 40 MPH racing through the park. We haven't seen any new signs, crosswalks, police presence, speed sleds, etc to address the unsafe conditions here. Also there are no new additional signs addressing/prohibiting the multiple heavy through trucks despite the fact that they were promised years ago.
