Thank you for reporting this issue to the City of St Petersburg. We have sent out Stormwater crews this morning for the environmental cleanup and have scheduled water sampling to be taken for analysis.
It is unlikely this event is related to a red tide or algal bloom event, and could instead be a physical process known as lake turnover. Turnovers can occur when a lake becomes stratified followed by a sudden wind or rain event which pushes the colder, low oxygen water from the bottom to the surface and starves fish of oxygen.
Water quality sampling takes 3 to 4 weeks to process, and this will give a better idea of the cause of the fish kill. In the meantime, we will investigate the nearby construction and continue to monitor for additional fish for the next several days. Thank you again for reporting the issue and for using See-Click-Fix.
