Description
A blue Mountaineer with plate NHPD-1 turned left in front of courthouse on a redlight while crosswalk lit. I was behind him and waited for my green. Lo and behold, he was next to me at.the next light infront of Chase. Destination unknown but continued down Whitney.
New Haven police are also required to follow the law. SMDH...how do you expect the public to obey if you cant even do it?

should we start a petition? stand outside of the police station?
how do we remind them to follow the law? that it is important to set a good example?!!

The City doesn't own any Mountaineers. We have several Escapes, which are the same car with a different badge, but do not have the plate "NHPD-1." NH-1 is the Mayor's gray Toyota Prius, but it doesn't sound like this was him.
I am going to close this issue because I'm not going to be able to figure out who this was, but we are monitoring SCF much more closely than 2011 and if you see City vehicles violating traffic laws, please do report. I have sent a couple more recent issues that have identifying characteristics (specific time and place, license plate, etc) to department heads for investigation and disciplinary action.
