There is no stop sign at Hall and Vanderburgh for cars coming off of Palmer - cars on Vanderburgh heading towards Hall are not the problem. Cars regularly turn off of Palmer onto Hall or onto Vanderburgh (to bypass the lights at Chatsworth and Palmer) without slowing down even slightly from their speed on Palmer. As an example, just about every evening as people drive from the train station during the rush hour you will see some cars turning off of Palmer onto Hall doing 35-40mph some of whom completely ignore the stop sign at Hall and Concord. A yield sign on the island or a 'slow children at play' sign may suffice. A few nights of a speed trap would be even better.

Now, that is a great idea.........A call to the Larchmont DPW (834 6965) should get a 'children at play' sign installed very fast. I'm sure a call to the Police Dept.(834 1000) would also help.

The problem everywhere is that 30 in a residential neighborhood is a ridiculously fast speed limit. We moved here from the Midwest and our neighborhood limit was 20. It's not just service trucks zooming around, it's people who live in the neighborhoods - moms running late, teenagers, people just so familiar with their area that they don't think there may be a pet or a child or even an adult they might not see. The speed limit needs to be reduced in every residential neighborhood, I think.
