Thank you Kendle. Please note the reason you found no cause for action today is because trash was picked up last night. The building took out all the commingled trash and recycling together yesterday and it was picked up last night. If you continue to monitor, you will see by as early as tomorrow that everything is all commingled again.

Same issue again. If you come out to inspect before trash is picked up Monday night, you will see

They just put it out for pickup tonight. You can see it’s all mixed recycling and trash

This continues to be a problem

there is no proper trash storage for this mixed-use, zero lot line building... the owner is in violation of code for not providing, and the tenants also make things worse by littering -- its a major public health hazard inside/adjacent to CASID... there is a rodent infestation

It just seems like, after years of issuing summonses, that the summonses aren't effective at compelling compliance by owner. I'm not sure if tenants have also been issued summonses or not because they are also contributing to problem by not putting garbage in the cans. But it's also the owner's fault for not providing enough cans, or cans with lids, and not using one of the ground level spaces (i.e., 5 or 7 Graham Street) to store the cans (i.e., create a trash room).

At this point, it's clear a more aggressive (and punitive) approach is needed but I'm not sure who in City of JC government has the authority to take more aggressive action - hopefully the Health Dept does? Or maybe the prosecutor's office? City council?

Hello Leo, Code Compliance continues to issue summonses to this locations owner, not the tenants. We do not issue to tenants in this situation. It is the resposibility of the owner to have a super on site to maintain the trash. As for a more aggressive approach, I cant speak for other Departments.
