if they put a plate over it, they've obviously seen it. the main reason they do this is if it's a sinkhole in the street that causes a pothole, they will have to make a construction project out of it. there are literally hundreds or probably thousands of these types of potholes pending in the city of chicago. they get them done, but it's not necessarily quick or easy. it's way more complicated to fix this type of problem than throwing some asphalt into a hole... it involves backhoes and on average 2-3 days of a full work crew to fix

They did fill in the large pot hole and remove the metal plate, BUT the pavement of the entire length of Damen Ave from Diversey to Belmont is in a severely bad state. It has to be completely repaved!
