The entire Street - Chapman St - there are massive potholes .
Nothing has been done to repair these holes since moving into this neighborhood 15 years ago. I was just charged over $500.00 to repair - will the City pass this invoice?
the alignment in my car due to damage caused by the potholes.
The neighborhood would appreciate some attention to these problems as we all feel totally neglected by the City ...like we don't exist and of no importance.Pls HELP!!! Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please advise when this problem can be fixed - must have at least 25 pot holes - massive ones !

The City of Oakland Public Works Department has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 567683. Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work through a backlog of pothole service requests. Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

Just sue the city for damage to your car. They don't have money to fix the potholes, but when you win they have to pay your damages

The situation in this block is unsafe. In order to avoid the potholes, most drivers must go down the middle of the street so their wheels are straddling the huge holes. When a driver is coming in the opposite direction, there's nowhere to go to avoid the craters in the road.

I actually have a full suspension mountain bike and I would not ride down that St.
My tires would get stuck in those grooves/crevices running about 6 ft in length by the free wood place. My wife doesn't even like rider her 200cc scooter down Chapman.

I actually ride my bike down this street and drive my car on a daily basis and it is crazy bumpy and dangerous. On the bike I have to weave back and forth to the sidewalk when there is one and ride very cautiously, stopping if a car is coming because there is no room for both of us to avaoid the potholes! I have lived on this street for 12+ years and have not seen any sign of the long needed repairs.

After 2.5 years of bugging our City people we finally got them to patch the potholes. It still sucks and needs to be repaved... but better than it was.

The ironic thing is that on that particular street we are going to see 50 to 100 new units go in at market rates. Translates to Million$$$ in additional revenue to the city... yet they can't seem to see that folks paying $3000 a month in rent may not want to drive through a maze of potholes.

...and they repaved the section of 29th Avenue between the (former) 880 overpass and E. 12th street, when it was in fine shape and was about to get repaved anyway as part of the Caltrans project. The plan is god as far as OPW is considered.

Wow... This report has been open since 2/9/15. Time for new reports. The new Oakland budget is supposed to have more money for potholes. CalTrans told Gallo that streets they drove their work vehicles on would be replaced on the State's dime

Funny how the City just closed this issues 2 years after our pothole protest AND this year when more potholes have opened up. I will pursue the promise of the City giving funds to PGE so they will repave the entire 4 blocks instead of the half they dig up. There was some pot hole repair on the 2800 block of Chapman.

Yes, and then we had the protest, posted the photos and 3 days later the 4 blocks were patched. Now more potholes have appeared. The patches only lasted 2 years?

Likely, maybe less. When roads get as bad as Chapman they should be repaved... because it is cheaper and will last longer.
