Description

Behind 540 Main Street (Roosevelt Landings), there's a huge, deep hole near one of the benches, with all the bricks missing. The hole is about 1 foot deep and 1 1/2 feet in diameter. I'm sure that people have fallen into this (at least my dog has) and sprained their ankles. This hole has been there for the past year and no one has bothered to fix it. In fact, the walks on the east side of the island are in deplorable condition because RIOC does not seem to care about taking care of the side of the island where the "poorer" population lives, i.e. those who live in Roosevelt Landings (or former Eastwood). Knowing that this island gets a lot of money from movie/TV companies who come to film their movies, etc. on the island, why are we not seeing much improvement on the condition and environment of the island itself? Why do we have deteriorated walks and benches on the eastern side of the island, whereas the western side (overlooking Manhattan) have been provided new benches and their walks have been repaired? Isn't this a type of discrimination against the more humble population of the island?
