I mentioned this before and have gotten to the point where I finally avoid and have stopped patronizing businesses on Highland Avenue all together. Much easier to go around and spend the dollars further down the line in Medford.

I wish I could avoid it, CJ, but my daughter's school is on Highland. Having her walk isn't an option because of the horrible condition of sidewalks and dangeroys, low visibility intersections. So I suffer on Highland day in and day out. Alternate routes and side roads are even worse. I hope the city is taking this winter as a lesson in how not to manage snow removal going forward. I hope the businesses impacted by this terrible snow removal are giving the mayor an earful!

Tow them they have been given enough tickets!

Ouch, tough when you can't avoid it. But of course, up where I live East Border Road has been widened and they've even sent a sidewalk plow down here! I dunno if that's DCR because we're next to the park, but you'd think a heavily traveled corridor like Highland would be a priority.

This issue has been forwarded to the Malden DPW. The DPW is and has been in the process of clearing the snow banks that are impeding travel and parking. They have crews working day and night clearing these areas. With historical amounts of snowfall, the DPW and contractors are doing the very best they can with the resources they have to alleviate these issues, but it takes time. They will get to Highland Avenue as soon as they can. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented winter weather pattern, Captain Glenn Cronin, Malden Police Department.

I appreciate that the DPW is doing the best they can and I would never expect the city to clear my parking spot whether it be in my driveway or on the street! The city does however have the ability to ticket and tow these vehicles and should be doing this everyday! Please do not let these violators block up city streets just because they are to lazy to get out a shovel. Please enforce the parking rules and start towing these vehicles, it is clear ticketing is not working.
