I am writing to express two concerns regarding traffic congestion and pedestrian safety at the intersection of Marin Boulevard and 13th Street in Jersey City, especially during peak hours. I have observed that the issue of vehicles blocking the intersection, commonly known as "blocking the box," has become increasingly prevalent and problematic.

The congestion caused by blocked intersections not only leads to frustrating delays for drivers but also poses a significant safety hazard for pedestrians and cyclists. It can impede the flow of traffic and create an unsafe environment for everyone using the intersection. In light of these concerns, I would like to request the installation of "Do Not Block the Box" signage at this busy intersection (existing signage is small, weathered/faded and does not stand out).

The presence of such signage would serve as a visual reminder to drivers to refrain from entering the intersection unless there is sufficient space on the other side. This small addition could have a positive impact on traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance overall safety for pedestrians and motorists alike. I would also like to request the restriping of the intersection box at the same intersection. Over time, the existing road markings have faded, leading to confusion and potential traffic safety concerns for both drivers and pedestrians.

Again given the high traffic volume at this intersection, maintaining clear and visible road markings is crucial to ensuring the safety of all road users. I kindly request that the intersection box be restriped with durable and reflective paint to enhance visibility during both day and night.
