Description

Excess sand used in street from snow storms causing possible safety issues with kids playing and slipping. Can brine be used in place of sand next season? It would be great to have town clean up street before someone slips. A few years ago they used to bring street sweepers around these parts, but I have not seen them in a while?

Actually no. It also can clog the storm drains. They used to do a better job cleaning the streets. Use something that leaves when the snow does, like brine. Sand hangs around too long.

I have forwarded the information to the Street Department. The Town uses brine and sand when treating roads during snow/ice. Please understand that for the safety of your children and Section 28-2 and 28-76 playing in the street is not allowed.

Keep in mine that there are NO sidewalks in this area and that is where all the sand is at... So anyone can slip and fall...

See I am not too crazy. ;-) Read the bottom about street sweeping... Why does wake forest not do this? They did in the past on residential streets as I have seen them...

The street sweeper is currently cleaning streets through out the Town and this information has been forwarded to them for cleaning.
