Hello, first a quick thank you for cutting back the heavy vegetation at this site!! There is still a drainage problem that pools water here until it evaporates. This causes heavy mosquito issues. Additionally, the kids that have designated bus stops are not able to cross this pool of water everything it rains. Thank you for your help. Fred

From our review, it appears that the flooding you are experiencing on your road is caused by the drainage channel serving your neighborhood. Overgrowth of vegetation or debris in the channel can compromise the proper functioning of the channel.
Marlette Avenue is part of the county roadway system and is maintained by the county. However, the drainage channel is not owned or maintained by the county.
Our research indicates that your subdivision was platted in 1954. That was before the enactment of current subdivision laws that require more robust drainage facilities.
Typically, drainage facilities like yours are maintained by a Homeowners Association. Our research found that at one time there was a HOA, but it is now defunct. The HOA would have owned and been responsible for maintaining the channel. Dissolving the HOA did not transfer that responsibility to the county. The property owners are still responsible for maintaining the drainage channel.
