Animal Control was contacted this afternoon by a concerned viewers of this site. The original complainant has not contacted us. The shelter does not have internet access and can only be made aware of complaints on this site if it is viewed on personal time at home or it is brought to our attention by the concerned parties alerting us to the complaint on line.
This site is useful to get problems resolved, but in order for someone to investigate a complaint vital information is needed. Much has been left out of this complaint.
The most important information is the Numerical address. If there is no number displayed on the house, what color is the house and what are the addresses and colors of he homes adjacent to it. There are no descriptions of the animals, breed, size, color and condition. From the details given it sounds like at least one is in a crate not a pen. How long are they outside? A few hours, all day then brought in the house or outside 24 hours? Is this a multi family home? What floor do the dogs owners live, is the family Black, White or Hispanic ? These are questions we would ask had a call been placed to the shelter directly which would help us determine that we are speaking with the responsible parties as well as acting on behalf of the correct animals of the complaint.
You, the complainant, may think we can just take an hour or two out of the day and inspect every backyard on Porter St. The shelter is staffed 9AM- 5PM everyday, there are five staff members working alternate days throughout the week, no receptionist and over a hundred animals at the shelter to feed, clean, treat medically and find homes for, investigate other complaints throughout the city, respond to emergencies and too many other duties to list.
Also there must be clear legal justification for entering someones private property. Pinpointing an address limits violating someones privacy and property rights. There are laws that we must follow.
It has been over 20 hours since this complaint was lodged on this site and as of 5 PM today no one called the shelter other than a concerned party reading the information here.
So please call the shelter at (203) 946-8110 to leave your detailed account using information provided here so we may investigate this complaint.
Respectfully
