Airbnb renters driving up on a lawn, park on the street overnight. The Town needs to police itself far more effectively. The owner / occupant on 67 Christopher along with the surrounding neighbors get to watch and suffer the coming and goings of "Frat House" behavior. .
Received this reply from the Town and would like to know what are the next steps.
Thank you for reaching out to us at Town Hall regarding this issue. This type of use is not permitted in a residential district and, as such, it is a violation of our zoning ordinance. Please know that we are aware of it and have had previous conversations with the homeowner to resolve it.
I forwarded your email to the Building Commissioner, Ron Lum, as he enforces zoning. I am advised that he contacted the homeowner this morning and had a second conversation about removing the unit(s) and will follow-up with the Town's multi departmental task force that resolves issues impacting the quality of life for our residents.
Please feel free to contact Mr. Lum directly to follow-up on his efforts this week. He can be reached via email at rlum@randolph-ma.gov or phone at 781-607-4722.
Again, thank you for letting us know about issues in your neighborhood. We appreciate your advocacy.
With winter in full swing, this location has inadequate parking for the occupancy listed, and as result cars are on the street overnight. Plowing is around these vehicles instead.
We are seeking help with this issue, It is violating our town laws, and has created a quality of life issue for immediate neighboring properties.
Reached out via email, requesting an in person appointment to discuss how this can be remedied. If these are truly in violation of the Town Laws I don't know why we can't get this issue properly addressed. We need some help!
Reaching out again, we need help to resolve this issue. This newly renovated place has likely not observed the required permitting and inspection process. Tax assessment is also going to be impacted. Parking for the elevated occupancy is insufficient and overnight on street parking is occurring. We are asking for the Town's assistance to address this issue.
Hoping the Town can intervene and make sure this Air BNB removed from the neighborhood. As a fellow Duplex owner, I can tell you having that many people on the other side is a huge noise and vibration issue for the owner occupant on the other side. These duplexes were never constructed to have the kind of noise / vibration autonomy that is needed. We need some help!
This issue has not been resolved. This entire situation was done improperly and violates numerous bylaws, ordinances of the Town.
Anyone who lives in a Duplex knows all too well, that they were never constructed with sufficient noise abatement features. Having a dozen people leave the property at 6:30 on a Sunday Morning or arriving at 11 PM on a given day, will make enough noise just from vehicle doors / hatches being closed, not to mention the noise and vibration created inside with people pounding up and down the stairs that are connected to the resident owner on the other side.
As abutting neighbors we have no contact information for Owner of this property or the Airbnb operator to contact them when issues arise. They have deliberately kept themselves anonymous.
We should not need to call the police when issues arise, but that is only option we're given.
The Town should be intervening and assisting the abutting and immediate neighbor who shares a common firewall with this location. Two entities using this property (property owner and the lessee of the Airbnb) for the primary use as income generation should not be allowed to do so at the expense of the directly abutting neighbors' quality of life in their own homes.
There is constant overnight parking, as the property does not have adequate space for vehicles supporting the rated occupancy (18). That is not a guest's fault, they know nothing of our local mandates.
The Town needs to help, and rectify this issue. This problem is now a year old.
This is what you have next door to a residence when an illegal AirBNB is leased to a tenant in an owner occupied duplex. They didn't, we didn't get a say in this. It is reprehensible!
This location does not bring in and out their trash and recycle bins. During storms they blow over and scatter through the abutting properties. This week was particularly bad.
