Description
Tamarack Aerospace employees have parked on the "odd" street-side for 4+ years with no snow removal issues, the street is extra wide with the extended shoulder for parking on the "odd" side of the street. The parking lot belongs to Granite Aviation (I.e., not Tamarack). A local police officer has advised us not to park on the opposite, "even" side as it would block too much of the road, leaving us no way to be at work in compliance with this order. Would you kindly "post otherwise" on Industrial Dr., in accordance with your policy, to allow us to continue to come to work? Please advise.

Matthew,
The city ordinance (6-1-4-9) for parking on the even side of the street between December 1st and March 1st was passed by the city council in 2022. We will be sending a report to the council at the end of the season with a list of any complaints pertaining to this ordinance, yours included. With that being said you will need to park on the even side of the street until March 1st.
Thank you,
Captain Rick Bailey

Understood that it's a city ordinance. What is the process to get something that is "posted otherwise", as the ordinance states is acceptable, which would allow us to park in the more common sense location? It is very obvious from the design and construction of Industrial Drive that it is safer and preferred for vehicles to be parked on the odd side of the road during all seasons, and as previously mentioned we've been parking there for many years with no issues or complaints from the plow drivers or police (I've found this requirement existed prior to 2022).
For now we are parking on the even side per your orders, but it still doesn't make logical sense, and obviously the city understood that a "one size fits all" solution isn't possible, else there wouldn't be the "posted otherwise" clause, and there wouldn't be different zonal requirements (downtown, for example, doesn't have to comply with this same even-side rule).
We're happy to escalate this in the proper forum, I understand you can't change the rule yourself. Who is the correct person to gripe to in order to get an exception posted?
Thanks,
-Matt
