Norton is more than wide enough for bike lanes (road diet) in each direction. The primary benefit is that narrowing the vehicle travel lanes in this way would help calm traffic.

The 170 Block mentioned, and basically everything between Whalley and Edgewood seems like a good width for bike lanes. Unfortunately, the pavement is in poor shape for the entire length of Norton, and I personally want the perception that I have the entire road width to avoid holes and bumps and puddles, but especially to avoid cars that aren't paying attention when they're going in and out of parking spots, or double parking. I usually ride well into the lane because that's the best part of the pavement on Norton (and it's the best place to be seen by cars).
Instead, I think sharrows between Goffe and Crescent are appropriate, and I really don't know what to do with the block between Goffe and Whalley.
There isn't an impending repave, right?
