I'm glad to see that someone else is as outraged by this! The city of West Haven refuses to take this matter seriously. The recycling participation rate in West Haven is abysmally low. When I'm out walking my dog, on nites and mornings prior to pickup I sometimes make a rough estimate of what percentage of a given block has recycling, and it's often not even 20%. And the sloppy way that people put out their trash -- all of it in violation of muncipal clodes already on the books -- means that much of it blows away, or spills out, blowing away, washing down the street, sometimes into gutters where it finds its way onto the shore, all of it contributing to what earns this city its nickname "Waste Haven."
