Utterly ridiculous. It’s legal to park vehicles in the bike lane? Why did the city even build this piece of garbage bike lane if people are allowed to park their huge trucks on it whenever they want?

This morning they were blocking both bike lanes as they unloaded equipment. I asked them to move their trucks and they declined.

Why did we spend all this money to make safe active transportation infrastructure for all ages and abilities to then allow random construction companies to use the infrastructure as parking and loading/unloading infrastructure. This is ridiculous.

311 is full of clowns

Not that this is the right avenue for this kind of conversation, but what exactly is the recourse here? We have agents of the city explicitly stating that it is ok for private companies to use public infrastructure for their activities. Do they need to get a permit for this? If not, why not? Could they also block the general traffic lane and get the same response? If this is allowable with a permit, the minimum I would expect is that the company provide a detour plan that they are responsible for. I have a hard time believing that the city is okay with private companies doing whatever they want with the public right of way, but since this is “just” a bike lane, the people responding don’t really care enough to do the right thing. At the very least this company should have gotten fined for their illegitimate use of a public right of way.

Is this where you park to have your car vandalized? Because it sure looks like a place to park to have your car vandalized. If your budget permits, you might want to add signage indicating "Park here to have your car vandalized".
