so there was a young raccoon by our drive way we called wildlife rehaber cause something obviously was wrong with it was blind, confused, having trouble breathing. Wildlife professional said was text book distemper and needed to call animal control to prevent the diease from spreading to other wildlife or pets in the neighborhood and they can be aggressive and theres young children in neighborhood, So i called Animal control and got no help was told they dont help with anything but dogs and maybe cats, i called everyone city hall, fish and wildlife, more wildlife professionals no one would help remove a diseased wildlife WITHIN CITY LIMITS, i even called sheriff office and was told that I a young women with 2 young children could go outside in a NEIGHBORHOOD and discharge a gun in order to dispatch it my self if needed, Fish and wildlife sent me to a website that had wildlife removal numbers but they all charged crazy amouts i was told by one is would be $397, the cheapest was $150 that was with me already having the raccoon caught literally justed needed someone to come a get it. So i was faced with the option of having to release a distemper raccoon back in the public and possibly hurting someone in neighborhood and speading distemper to more wildlife or somehow as a women again with 2 young children in the house dispatch this animal myself and be tramatized forever, i just dont understand why theres no help AT ALL within city limits to help with this at the very least should be something to help not spread diease back in wildlife, but if it was a aggressive dog i could have help i was even told by dispatch someone could be dispatched to me if there was a aggressive dog but a raccoon that was already trapped just needed to be removed no help. i just dont understand it at all.
